BMW Launches Performance Steering Wheel for M Series

Want to get closer to making your car-racing daydream more of a reality behind your own wheel?

BMW just made that possible by launching this new super grippy Alcantra-wrapped performance steering wheel for its M-series. Highlighted by carbon trim and a race display, it was tested by German motorsports expert and race driver, Tim Schrick, and as you'll see this is definitely no standard racing wheel.

In addition to its secure grip in extreme driving situations is its abundance of useful driving data - that's right, your steering wheel essentially speaks to you while your eyes remain virtually on the road.

There are three modes of data collection- EfficientDynamics, Sport, and Race. In "EfficientDynamics" mode, the wheel's functions display shows you the average fuel consumption over short and long distances, and your average speed. In "Sport" mode, it shows a stopwatch, G meter - longitudinal and lateral acceleration - water and oil temperature, and it even tells you when to shift, via an LED light system. In "Race" mode, it displays lap timer, a 0-to-400-meter timer, a 1/4-mile race timer and the same LED light shift indicators that it displays in "Sport" mode.

At a not-so-cheap $1700, you gearheads and race track frequenters have to admit you wouldn't bat an eye at the chance to grip this innovation in the palms of your hands. Who but BMW can execute this level of priceless engineering?
