Lastest F33 3/4 Series Vert Spy Pics show off the folding hardtop

2014 BMW 4 series convertible F33

We caught BMW testing the 2014 3 series, or 4 series, depending on who you believe, convertible with the three piece folding hardtop. If you're coming from the soft top on the E46 the folding hardtop is either a god send or the work of the devil. If you've been issue free with the softtop and like the traditional convertible look to the canvas you'll be disappointed. If you've been one of the horror stories from the E46Fanatics vert forum the idea of true 4 season car with a folding hard top you're in luck.

Regardless of your preference for soft or hard, we know the 6th generation 3 series, or 4 series will have a folding hardtop. The previous generation E93 convertible had a folding hardtop and the reviews were very good. You can be sure that BMW engineers have been working to improve the already impressive mechanism to increase speed and reduce issues.

Watch the folding hardtop on the 2013 BMW F33 in operation

The top feature three aluminum panels that stack inside each other and fold quietly into the trunk. Trunk space is of course impacted but even with the top down there will be room for your groceries and perhaps a set of clubs.

Who is thinking about a 2014 3/4er vert as their next ride?

Not much different looking than the E93 top from what I can tell in the photos but it is confirmation that the hard top is here to stay on the 3 series / 4 series
