The new BMW F30....Optima???

Disclaimer...the second pic is a photoshop...

They look quite similar. You should note that Kia poached a lead designer from Audi a little while back. Hence the LED headlamps on some Kia models. At least the Korean spec models. Although the most important thing is what's under the sheet (that's what she said) metal.

And this should NOT surprise anyone. Korean automakers have been ripping off...er...copying german styling for years. @ssend of the Genesis sedan...E60 5 series anyone???

All carmakers take cues from other companies. Nothing is totally original anymore.

to the extent that both cars have four doors, headlamps, wheels, hoods, roofs, and a windshield, yes, they seem extremely similar.

Other than that? I don't see it. I'd say the Kia looks a bit like the newer Focus, though.

You say the Optima is "ripping off" the F30? Since the Optima is already out on the market (and the F30 isn't), shouldn't you say that the F30 is ripping off the Optima?

IMO, the Optima looks better than the F30 pics. And the Genesis is better looking than the e60. Kudos to Kia and Hyundai in that regards.

Us "older" guys remember the introduction of the e36. Everyone was claiming that BMW ripped off the (then) Honda Accord styling. Everyone complained about the e36 when it was introduced. Good times.

it's striking, sometimes, how similar some BMWs and Hondas look.

WTF is up with the two tone mirrors on the F30??

Geez BMW, can you guys please just outsource your design work to AUDI until you pull your collective heads out of your collective asses. Thanks.

Actually, I like the Kia Forte which is a 2 door Optima. I guess everyone missed my statement...an ex-Audi designer is responsible for the latest generation of Kias which looks very good! So why wouldn't the Optima have a german flavor to it.

Not good or bad, just a resemblence.

If you didn't know, Kia and Hyundai are practically the same. So if you like Hyundai, you like Kia and vice versa.

The side grills on the Optima scream M5 ripoff. Nothing new here, this is not thread worthy. There is nothing new about bargain brands ripping off the style of more expensive brands/models, pretty standard. Same with new German cars looking like Japanese cars, people have been talking about this for years after every new model release. Once again, this discussion is so old it isn't even thread worthy anymore.

I'm sure they share some parts as KIA is owned partly by Hyundai.

I did a search...this comparison has never been discussed. If it is so thread unworthy...why even reply?

Bump

I can't say that the F30 looks that much different from the E9x. Although the OP did say that's a pchop.

At least, not different enough to convince me that I should buy one. Ever.
